Youth Philanthropy Internship Program
Are you looking for a meaningful paid summer internship? Have you completed your junior or senior year in high school and are looking for a great career building opportunity? Work this summer at the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County! The Youth Philanthropy Internship Program is a paid internship for high school students that have completed their junior or senior year in Westmoreland County, and care about their community. The internship lasts 7 weeks from mid-June to early August, typically Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
As an intern, you will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about the greatest needs in your community
- Discovery how nonprofit organizations work
- Meet teens from other counties also making a difference in their communities
- Earn a great hourly salary in a business setting
- Build your professional resume
- Make a positive impact in your community
The purpose of the internship is to involve youth in the community and teach them about philanthropy. Interns begin the summer by researching community need and visiting local nonprofits to better understand the issues that are most pressing in our communities. They will then develop and market a grantmaking program. The summer will culminate with the interns evaluating grant proposals from nonprofits and awarding $50,000 in grant awards!
