Community Foundation of Westmoreland County

WHEN:  Monday, June 11, 2018 from 9:00 - noon

WHERE:  Community Foundation of Westmoreland County
Greensburg Garden & Civic Center, Penthouse Suite, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg

Do you have some experience with grantwriting but want to learn more? Do you ever use the same proposal you wrote for multiple funders? Do you want to know how to make your proposal appeal to each specific funder?  If any of your answers were “yes,” you won’t want to miss this upcoming workshop!

While it may be tempting to write one proposal about a project and send it to multiple funders, one size does NOT fit all. You will be much more effective if you take the time to adapt each application to each funder's specific interests and guidelines.

Grantwriting 201 Topics:
- how a project can appeal to the interests of different funders
- how applications may differ in length, language, and format depending on the type of funder
- how to pitch a project to funders with different interests
- adapting a proposal excerpt for different funders
- common differences in application requirements

The speaker for Grantwriting 201 will be Laurie S. Anderson, GPC, principal of L. Anderson Consulting, a grants consulting business launched in 2016 while she was also working part-time as the Grants & Special Projects Coordinator for the Allegheny County Library Association. Laurie has more than 25 years of experience working in the nonprofit sector!   In 1992, Laurie became the Founding Manager of the Nonprofit Resource Center at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Later, she was executive director of two small nonprofit organizations. She then worked for seven years as the Grants Manager for the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy. Laurie is a member of the Grant Professionals Association and received her Grants Professional Certification (GPC) in 2016.
