Feeding The Spirit

226 South Maple Avenue, Greensburg

As the leaves begin to turn and fall, and winter looms not far behind, it’s time to start thinking of those folks in our community who might be without proper protection against the elements. Once again, Feeding the Spirit is partnering with Westmoreland Community Action to kick off Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week with our annual hats, scarves and gloves drive. We are presently soliciting donations of new and gently used hats, scarves and gloves for men, women and children for distribution throughout downtown Greensburg and the surrounding areas. In a perfect world, each donated set would be placed in a Ziploc bag, but we always have GREAT FUN assembling, so don’t worry if that’s too much trouble!!! Between now and November 12th, donations can be dropped off at DV8 Espresso Bar and Gallery M-F between 8 AM and 3 PM or Saturdays between 9 AM and Noon. During the week leading up to the event, commencing November 12th, last minute donations can be dropped off directly at Westmoreland Community Action at 226 South Maple Avenue in Greensburg between 9 AM and 3 PM. Assembly and organization of the bags will commence promptly at 10 AM on November 17th, and we will start moving the bags out into the community as soon as they are ready!!! For more information on how you can help, please contact Patricia Elliott-Rentler at plelaw@msn.com. To date, we have distributed well approximately 10,000 bags of winterwear to those in need, but we can’t do it without YOUR help!!!!
